This was helpful. Sometime in the past I tried using the codec you mentioned. Did not work for me. ended up buying codecs from Digium.

Thanks for the info.

Confirmed working on 2.6.35 Linux Mint 10 32-bit. Patch applied cleanly. A software fix for a hardware problem, I wish it were in the main kernel (haven't had to roll my own for years :) and some note of the very common hardware fault at linuxtv dvb-s hardware list. My setup required the 22khz to be on & the nova-s plus would find but not lock TPs, working great now.

Thanks again

Hi Chris,

Good questions. As I recall I tried the patch attached to the ticket:

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=21905

and it'd wouldn't apply cleanly any more so I just edited the source directly.

Here is my isl16421.c: http://pastebin.ca/1940439
Here is my isl6421.h http://pastebin.ca/1940440

Try those in place of the default ones in linuxtv/v4l-dvb/v4l

Thanks for the information about the Nova-S Plus and 22KHz tones.

Can you provide a link to the version of the isl6421 patch that you used? I'd like to try compiling for my kernel. I've looked around on the web, and found much discussion on the patch, but I can't find a 'final' version of the source code.

cheers

Chris

My solution would be that the plumber invoices you and on the invoice is his BACS details. Then you just phone your bank, or go online, and pay him.

Or, he lists his Paypal address and you do it that way.

For a point-of-sale payment how about the banks provide a service where the plumber phones up and enters his ID number and password, then the ammount, then hands the phone over to you to enter you debit card details, for which there is only a 25p charge. If YOU want to pay by credit card, then you have to pay the extra quid or whatever it is.

Remember where you heard it first.

I 80% agree with you. It used to be 100%, and then I got talking to my plumber who was dead worried about it. No-one wants to have a few hundred quid in cash laying around to pay a plumber for doing work, and sole-trader workers like him don't want to have to get a card swiper thing because they cost extra money and the bank take a bite out of each transaction, meaning that they either have to put their prices up (which hacks off the customers) or take a 5% pay cut (which hacks off the plumber). I'm not sure what the resolution is here...
